MOTAMO Term One 2026

Submissions for Jardins

 📅 TERM 1 - starting on 16 February - 31 March 2026
🕠 weekdays - office hours Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm
🎨 For aspiring artists
📍 The Lighthouse Toowoomba

MOTAMO is the International Biennale of Children’s Books, held in Belgium, and continuing our involvement in the past three Biennales, Toowoomba children are again invited to submit drawings for 2027.  Countries participating last year included:

How does it all work?

·      School groups are invited to visit the exhibition for a free workshop inspiring them to create work for the submission. Bookings:
·      The Motamo team will select 8 drawings to represent Australia!
·      The selection of work will be converted into black line markers and hand coloured by children in Belgium.
·      These images will be included in a book with text from the children.
·      Then lino cuts of the illustrations are made to accompany writing from a local author into a second book which is handprinted.

Children from the region are invited to visit the exhibition and submit a pencil drawing… something fitting the theme ‘Jardins’ (Gardens!), the wilder and more creative the better, and their work may be selected to be included in the 2027 Biennale.

To enter - register, and then email line drawing to hello@thelighthousetoowoomba.org or drop off during office hours Monday to Friday 9am to 3pm

Copyright remains with the artist, but the artist assigns the right to Motamo to use the image in all forms for Jardins 2027
